Ya hace algunos años, en la vecina provincia de Córdoba, en un pueblito de apenas 3000 habitantes existía un perro entre negro y gris, cuyo pelaje brillaba con los reflejos del sol.
El mismo era de tamaño casi grande y sus ojos tristes conmovían a quienes lo veían.
Fue una señora de apenas cuarenta años que lo llevó hasta su casa y le daba de comer cada mañana y cada noche en su puerta.
El can desaparecía por las noches. Esas mismas noches donde los lugareños veían a una mujer vestida de negro sobre la ruta.

Solo pasaron siete días hasta que la gentil mujer falleció. Fue acompañada en su sepelio por esa mascota recién adoptada.
Sin dudarlo, otro vecino lo llevo a su puerta ante la mirada vidriosa de valiente, el nombre que le habían puesto.
Y sucedió nuevamente, a los siete días ese vecino también falleció.
Y así el hecho se repitió siete veces. Siete fallecidos en las viviendas donde Valiente pernotaba y comía.
Fue un gaucho de campo quien lo cargo en una vieja camioneta y lo dejó en Sampacho.
Nuevamente en esa ciudad se repitió la historia una y otra y vez.
Pero en la séptima, el último adoptante se percato de la situación y lo trajo hasta la zona de “El Milagro”, con la esperanza que el nombre de la zona, cortara con la maldición del can.
Valiente, poco tiempo después adopto a La ciudad de La Punta como su lugar de residencia.
Cada vecino que le daba de comer al poco tiempo fallecía, ya sea por enfermedades fulminantes o en accidentes insólitos.
Mucho se dijo en la vecina provincia. Qué era un can fantasma, que podría ser el alma de una mujer asesinada quien se refleja mostrando la imagen del can. Pero la historia es real. Nada tiene de ficción.
No somos de relatar largas historias. Por tanto seremos breves.
Valiente sigue en La Ciudad y moviéndose por los barrios del alto. Es todo un perro guardián cuando adopta una puerta de calle.
Valiente esta a la espera, mientras por las noches una mujer vestida de negro se aparece en el camino viejo que va hasta Los Molles y no permite el paso de motociclistas ni taxistas.
Valiente esta en nuestra ciudad.
Solo es cuestión de mirar en la vereda y lo reconocerá si lo ve. Sus ojos denotan tristeza como si su alma estuviera poseída y él lo supiera, pero nada puede hacer.
Solo mire su vereda vecino. Solo ande de noche por el camino viejo. Tal vez, vea a Valiente. Tal vez vea a la mujer vestida de negro. Tal vez logre ver a quien llaman, el can de La Muerte. En los últimos días se dice que ha sido visto en la zona de los barrios nuevos y en cercanías a Los Lapachos…
