Lo fue cuando me llevaba a ese extenso campo, y con un catalejos yo lo miraba venir, arriba de su cosechadora M`CORMICK naftera levantando el granífero y llenando la tolva nueva, esa que suplantó, a las bolsas de alpillera.

Lo fue cuando a los 12 me regaló el primer profiláctico, esos chinos con olor a caucho, diciéndome, no me traigas dolores de cabeza. Y a pesar de estos y otros tantos consejos, sanamente, les traje tantos.

Lo fue cuando mi madre no me encontraba y desesperada llamó a la policía. Todo un pueblo me buscaba. Y yo a las cinco de la mañana, me había escondido en aquella estanciera, azul y blanca, esa misma con la viajábamos a Bs. As. Solo quería estar con él. Volverlo a ver desde el catalejos y comer junto a los peones, esos tremendos asados.
Y cuando volví a desaparecer por tres días teniendo 14 años allá en el año 79, y me encontraron en Bragado. Toda la policía se había movilizado en La Provincia de Buenos Aires, mi tío el negro Emer había viajado hasta Bariloche, siguiendo supuestos datos que aportaba la empresa de transporte Rojas. Y me asuste cuando al llegar en tren; cientos de personas fueron corriendo hasta la puerta de donde yo bajaba de aquel viejo tren. Me llevaron al hombro, me llevó “mi viejo”. Y volví a casa.

Lo fue cuando aceptó a pesar que le dolía, que decidiera estudiar para sacerdote. No tenía cura. El entendió que quería estudiar la mejor carrera que existía en aquella época, en aquella otra ARGENTINA.
Lo aceptó, hasta que un día llegue de vuelta a Los Toldos y lo ví, tirado en la cama, destrozado por la economía impuesta por aquel llamado Martínez de Hoz. Simplemente se levantó, me abrazo, como nunca lo había hecho y me dijo “estas de vuelta y le hable despacio….a pesar que estaba casi sordo. Me leyó los labios y entendió que por “él” volvía”.

Con lágrimas en los ojos me despidió al poco tiempo, viéndome partir a buscar un lugar en el mundo, y yo lo veía cada vez mas chiquito, en aquella estación que sigue intacta, por donde aún pasa el viejo tren gasolero. Y le ví las canas. Y ví sus bigotes ya blancos.
Y me ví convirtiéndome en un hombre.
Mi padre fue un gran hombre.
Me acompañó en cada una de mis primeras catorce mudanzas. Me regaló la heladera que aún uso.
El reloj que aún me dá la hora, a pesar que atrasa cinco minutos al día.. Me regalo los botines de mi abuelo, esos venidos de ITALIA, aún con olor a cuero. La plancha a carbón, el primer martillo. La escopeta Beretta traída de Italia. 
El MANGONERY verde con dos talles más por si engordaba. Los primeros RAY BAN. La primer zanella. Me regalo tantas cosas, me regaló su Falcon 65, ese qué hoy junto a mi hermano Ruben decidimos regalárselo a uno de los grandes amigos del viejo.

Lo fue cuando se enfermó. Y me lo dijo… hijo que nunca te falten las metas porque se acaba la vida.
Me lo dijo con sus palabras, aquellas que yo solamente entendía.
Y aún recuerdo aquella foto donde posamos los tres, el, su hijo y el mío. Y aún recuerdo su mirada que ya me decía, que se iba.
Y me volví a Bs. As. En mi auto.
Lo fue cuando con sus palabras le dijo a mi vieja, ”si yo no estaría, tu estarías mejor y los hijos vivirían más tranquilos “. A su modo después de cincuenta y seis años de matrimonio le decía nuevamente que la amaba.
Y a mí me faltaba la última mudanza. La que era la definitiva. Esa donde, a un lugar donde muchos en Argentina no sabían que existía. A La Punta
Aún recuerdo cuando niño la familia iba a los bailes de campo con pista de tierra, si hasta yo tenía mi propio traje.

Lo fue el día que tuvo el valor de permitir que mi madre siga con su vida. Esa madre a la que cuando hacían el novio, él la visitaba en su sulky brillante, pero siempre con las alpargatas puestas y el olor del campo, allá en lo que lo llaman “la tribu”, en Los Toldos.
Simplemente le dijo. “recordáme que a las 13:30 debo ir al dentista. Y a las 13:15 me llamaron y me dijeron…,
“ FABIÁN URGENTE “ y yo pregunte porque.
Y me respondió la voz apagada de uno de mis hermanos (Daniel) hoy ya fallecido. “ papi ya no está pelotudo, “lo hizo” se colgó en el patio con la cadena de la balanza “. Y rompí de una trompada una pared de durlock de un comercio en el Shopping Caballito.
Ese día un viaje de más de cuatro horas lo hicimos junto a mí hermano Ruben quien también aposto a San Luis, en apenas dos y media. Y al verlo, allí tan tranquilo acostado en el cajón se terminó mi hombría y lloré como nunca, al hombre que siempre me decía, -hacé lo que sientas de la vida, cuida el apellido. Cuidá a los hijos.
Cumplió con su palabra dada, como siempre la había cumplido.

Lo fue cuando le dije, me voy a San Luis. Allá quiero escribir mi historia. Y él me dijo, “yo estaré en la mudanza “. Pero yo sabía que de tantas pastillas ya no me escuchaba. Lo fue cuando cada capricho de mi vida por el fue aceptado, consentido y apoyado.
A quien otro le puedo dedicar entonces todo lo que escribo.

Por esto y tanto mas todo lo que escribí en el lugar de mis sueños. En ese lugar, donde un barrio grande se convirtió en ciudad y suma hijos.
Tantas letras escritas en papel, aquellas leídas por miles y aquellas que nunca serán leídas por nadie….

No tuve el valor de escribirte estas líneas el seis de agosto. Pero te las escribí para el doce de octubre. Tu cumpleaños. Y las repito para el próximo día del padre.
Todas esas palabras. Viejo que te me fuiste sin los bigotes, a vos…., porque mis sueños sé que eran los que no pudiste cumplir….., a vos, todo lo que escribo te lo dedico…. A vos que me enseñaste a escribir con el alma, con el corazón… A vos te dedico cada letra, que escribo desde la ciudad, con la que vos soñaste también y por pocos días, a ella no lograste llegar……
